Tama almost over
Super happy sunshine funtime go
07/15/2008
Okay, first of all, I just realized I forgot to actually publish my last update.
I`m sorry, but it is deleted now (as I use the same file over and over again to write stuff) and you have to live without it.. so this might be a bit confusing, but I`m in a new family of 5, three brothers at 6, 10 and 13. They`re awesome.
Nuff said.
So, whadda`yu know, we’re almost done with another city.
Time has been passing (once again) remarcably fast, and in just two days were on our way to Toride, our next city.
I’ll really miss this hostfamily.
On our hostfamily day we went for a picnic (wich in this context means bringing everything from a soccerball and baseball gloves to a table, small “stormkjøkken” for warming up water for our noodles and a table + chairs), wich was awesome. We walked far into a river that was right by. It was dammed, and as a consequence there’s small “jumps” on about 1 meter every here and there. Here, my hostbrother managed to catch a little fish with a...hmm..whats the correct english term here? “hov”?
The thing you usually would like to put fish in once you’ve got them out of the water. (yeah, I really nailed that one)
Anyways, afterwards we headed out to Pyroland, wich is also the reason for Tama being called the town of “Hello Kitty”. This is a “small” funtimeland where Hello Kitty is the star of everything. I did not get a picture with Kitty herself, as the line was too big.-but I did get a nice shot of myself next to her sister/friend “Mimy”, (who looks exactly the same except for wearing blue stuff instead of pink) together with one of my hostbrothers. (Jun, age 6)
Later on we went to the revolving sushi table place sushi. It just occured to me how cheap it is there, especially compared to how good it is.
I ate until I could barely walk, and for me the bill was around 70kr. (maybe 1200 Yen)
And the best part, when you finished 5 plates, you inserted them into a slot, and a small game appeared on our ordering screen. (wich you use if you want something special to come on the revolving table thing, that’s just for you) and you can win a small price.
Jun went crazy over that thing, especially when it stopped working.
On personal day we were planning on visiting Akihabara, and the maid cafè again. But because of different complications, people who would be fun to drag in there (plus fluent japanese speakers) couldn’t make it in time, so we just stayed in Harajuku the whole day.
Harajuku rocks too. I really love “Kiddyland”, a 5 story tall building with only toys. I was looking for a übertoy I found there last tour, but forgot to buy on my way down again (there’s too many cool things and too little time), but this time they didn’t seem to have it.
So I ended up with (in honour of my re-newed Final Fantasy VII fever, thanks to Crisis Core (wich I just cleared by the way) and me now being able to chip my PSP so I can play the original on my travels as well) a Cloud figure. It is so awesome. It came with his bustersord and everything. (and SO cheap!)
I don’t have enough space in my suitcase for the actual box, so I have to/should throw that away. But the figure should and shall still look awesome in my new apartment once I get home.
On arigatou evento day a woman from Ueda came along to watch the event. I’ve talked a little bit to her before, she thinks I’m a LOT better in Japanese than I am, and I think she really loves northen europe. (our conversations are in Japanese after all, so I can’t be sure)
Before leaving Tama she gave me a present, basicly for being Norwegian. She met a Norwegian somewhere on her travels, and thought he was really nice. Like I said earlyer, all conversations in Japanese, so I’m really not sure about the details here.
I had an ekstra cheesecutter (ostehøvel), so I decided to give that to her as thanks.
A little background on this family; there hostson (Christian) from Denmark recieved 4 Yukatas, one for himself and for his entire family. He got a LOT of other stuff too, he had two suitcases when he left that city.
So this woman now brought me a Yukata, with sandals and everything. It’s really nice of her, but I have no clue how to get it home. I’ll need to post it. I thought it would come to that anyways, so it doesn’t make that mutch of a difference.
And Christian himself got new businesscards and a Harmonica this time. XD
Also, everyone got postcards with a picture of Christian wearing a Kimono.
She also showed me that she’s learning a little Danish and Norwegian.
The event itself went smoothly, but it’s getting really tiresome for me. We don’t have to work that mutch any longer, but the participants are not good at paying attention. I’ll tell them to go to the left side, and three people might move to the right, and everyone will basicly wait or start talking.
So it’s a LOT of repition of messages, but when they do listen, it’s usually good. I can see why they’re tired, and I can’t blame them.
So that’s a little update on my experiences this last week.. China is coming up, and I’m excighted about that.
But I still miss everyone at home, and I hope you are all doing okay. Don’t hesitate to write me an e-mail or so if you’re bored or wondering about something spesific.
Oh, that reminds me, I gotta write a blog for Guang too.
Poor guy is working very hard. I hope he’s not too stressed out, I really want him to tag along for the next tour as well.
We shall see.
So, soon new city, new adventures!
Good fun!
